BLACK LIVES MATTER: INSTAGRAM POSTS
On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black American man, was murdered in Minneapolis by Derek Chauvin, a 44-year-old white police officer. While the Black Lives Matter movement has been a political and social movement that has been highlighting racism, discrimination, and racial inequality experienced by black people since 2013, the movement gained further international attention during the global George Floyd protests in 2020 following his murder. An estimated 15 million to 26 million people participated in the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in the United States, making it one of the largest movements in the country’s history.

Graphic Designers and artists like myself are supporting the Black Lives Matter movement protests by sharing illustrations and links to resources that people can use to help others and educate themselves.
THE WEEKND: BLINDING LIGHTS ALBUM COVER
I wanted to create an experimental grungy album cover inspired by one of The Weeknds title tracks, “Blinding Lights”. I created an initial poster that was moody and reflected his album and used a halftone pattern on the image. I then printed the illustration and cut out the eyes to represent being blinded and I also wanted to experiment with physical prints and scans causing ink bleeds and imperfect scratches and grains. Finally, I took the scanned print back into to Photoshop for some final touches and textures.
VISION OF TOMORROW - PHOTOBASHING
I wanted to try and create a futuristic dystopian world by taking specific images and combining them into one image. The goal was mostly exercising foundational photoshop skills through experimenting with colours, photo combination and manipulation, colour correcting, and playing with different photoshop effects to create a visually interesting movie poster.
